The dominant allele of this gene suppresses eumelanin production, which keeps the base of each hair light, allowing pigment only on the outer half of each hair shaft. In order to have the chinchilla pattern, a cat must carry the melanin inhibitor gene (I/i). The chinchilla pattern occurs in several breeds, such as this silver chinchilla Persian.Ĭats with the chinchilla coat pattern, named for the small rodent with a similar coat pattern, have a light-colored base coat with the outer edges of each hair tipped with black. Cat DNA testing could be the answer. ![]() The black and red genes can also be influenced by other genes, causing dilated colors, such as silver, gray, blue, cream, and fawn. Other colors such as chocolate and cinnamon occur when cats have recessive versions of the black or red gene. ![]() Red (orange) occurs when a cat has a dominant version of the red gene (O). Black occurs when a cat has a dominant version of the primary gene for coat color (B). The two basic colors in cats are black and red, caused by the gene for black (B/b/b1) or the gene for red (O/o). New Orleans won easily, 31-3, but Hill still has not thrown a passing touchdown since he was with BYU in 2016. On the other side of the field, the Saints started gadget player Taysom Hill at QB for the second straight week, and Hill went 9-of-16 for 78 yards and a pick, though he also added two rushing touchdowns and 44 rushing yards. This shouldn’t come as a shock to anyone, but the NFL is much better when real quarterbacks play-a fact that was also reflected by New Orleans’s performance. ![]() But a team throwing an inexperienced receiver under center and doing their best seemed like it could at least be interesting. No one thought this offense, which had very little time to prepare after the news on Saturday, would be good. That meant that Denver went into Sunday with practice-squad rookie receiver Kendall Hinton, who played some quarterback at Wake Forest before switching positions, plus running backs Royce Freeman and Phillip Lindsay available to take snaps. Following that, the team asked the NFL whether one of their offensive quality-control coaches-both of whom played QB in college-could suit up, but the league refused. On Saturday, the Broncos announced that their three quarterbacks-Drew Lock, Brett Rypien, and Blake Bortles-would not be available for Sunday’s game against the Saints due to a potential exposure to COVID-19. We looked around at the surrounding tables and saw that no one had been around for quite some time to remove dirty dishes from the tables and on each table dishes were stacking up in piles. That was what we did - we washed the table ourselves - as best as we could. My wife was about to agree and then suggested that we could wash the table ourselves if we brought napkins up to the water spigot at the soda area. At this point, I suggested to my wife that we take the dinner ticket and receipt, return to the cashier, and ask for our money back and leave. We looked across the dining room and saw no one to speak with to ask to have the table cleaned. We looked for an employee to clean the table that we had first found. There were none - other than tables for six and we did not want to take up such a large table for just the two of us. My wife said that we should not sit there and looked for another table. As we were about to sit down, we saw that the table was covered in grease and sticky dried food. The other table at first glance looked like it had been cleaned and prepared for the next guest - at least there were no dirty dishes or glasses on it. One of those tables was covered in dirty dishes. There were two tables for four open next to each other in the center of the dining room closest to the buffet. The dining room was crowded and we sat ourselves - as the sign indicated. We were at the buffet on a Sunday evening for dinner. Less than five minutes of coming through the door and paying for our dinners tonight, I was regretting having come back. My readers know that I have said several times in the past that I would not go back to the Levittown OCB because of what goes on there, but every so often I decide to go back and give it another try and see if there maybe has been an improvement. to react to what took place at the Levittown Old Country Buffet tonight. I only wish that I had the clout of a corporate executive at Buffets, Inc. Actually, I was amazed that you only encountered one problem employee and less than satisfactory conditions at only one of the buffets that you visited undercover. Everyone of your customers is going undercover to your restaurants every day. You went undercover to four restaurants in your chain for a day each. We decided that we would not go back there for a while and despite the long standing problems at the Levittown, New York Old Country Buffet we would try that location again, the next time that we would go to an Old Country Buffet. I have to share that immediately after my last two meals at that Old Country Buffet - a week and a half apart from each other - I had food poisoning. We spend the extra money for gas to make that trip because that location has been far superior to the Levittown location. We usually drive forty minutes to the Old Country Buffet in Bay Shore, New York. We are just five minutes from the Old Country Buffet in Levittown, New York. I dined at one of those Old Country Buffets tonight with my wife. As we are located in New York on Long Island, there are two Old Country Buffets locally. I have generally had dinner in one of your restaurants at least once every week for the past several years. I have been dining at Old Country Buffets, Ryan's, and Fire Mountain restaurants for many years. I would like to believe that your reason was a little of both, with an emphsis on quality and service to customers, because that is the only reason that will keep your businesses running. One could look at why you decided to go on television on this "Reality Show" as either a publicity "stunt" for your restauants or to actually show your sincerity about helping a business that has seen two bankruptcies in managing several chains of restaurants and, at the same time, caring about the quality of restaurant and service those restaurants bring to your customers. A week ago I published an article on this website in review and reaction to your appearance on the television show, Undercover Boss. ![]() Especially ACDSee, Exposure, and Zoner had weirdly ineffective denoising, and were unusually difficult to balance against smearing and worms in Lightroom, ON1, and Silkypix. There were also significant differences in noise removal. This is especially visible in ACDSee, ON1, and Zoner, and to a lesser extent in DxO, Lightroom, and RawTherapee. Halos especially are a personal bug-bear of mine, where the sky above the horizon line brightens and (worse) the mountains below the horizon line darken. But there are pretty substantial differences in denoising, haloing, and detail retention of the shadows specifically. Overall, most of these renderings turned out fine. ![]() Works very well in this image Zoner Photo Studioįujifilm X-T2 with XF70-300 231mm 1/400s f/5.7 ISO200 There does not seem to be a clarity-like slider? However, there's a flip side to this: Every program that renders yellow highlights in fire, does the same for overexposed skin, twists overexposed skies cyan, and red flowers magenta. ACDSee and ON1 probably take the yellow a bit too far. You can see Darktable v6, DxO PhotoLab, RawTherapee, Exposure, and Zoner leaning towards desaturation, while the others render yellow color twists of some form or another. So a balance has to be struck between merely desaturating highlights, and twisting them yellow. There's a difficult tradeoff to be made here: Fire highlights physically don't change hue much compared to the fire body, but we visibly expect "hotter" fire to twist yellow. I tried to inject some objectivity by limiting my edits to the most obvious sliders wherever possible, especially in the programs I know better. Of course I am no expert in any of them except Darktable and Capture One, so my results are probably flawed. In order to put them through their paces, I took a random smattering of images from the last few years that I found difficult to work with for one reason or another, and checked how each of the programs dealt with them. I also installed Luminar Neo (€120 or €80/a) and Radiant Photo (€140) but I disliked them so immediately and viscerally that I didn't include them in the comparison below. Or maybe I just wanted a justification for buying DxO PhotoLab, because people on the internet speak so well of it □.įor the following comparison I downloaded trial versions of ACDSee Photo Studio Ultimate 2023 (€155), Capture One 22 (€350 or €220/a), Darktable 4.0 (free), DxO Photolab 6 (€220 + €140 for FilmPack 6 + €99 for ViewPoint), Adobe Lightroom Classic 11.5 (€142/a), ON1 Photo Raw 2023 (€126), RawTherapee 5.8 (free), Silkypix Developer Studio Pro 11 (€155), Exposure X7 (€165), and Zoner Photo Studio X Fall 2022 (€60/a).
